Questions and Prepositions

Hello class!

Today we started class looking at question forming. We looked at lots of different questions forms and their meanings, here are some we studied...

We went on to practise these questions by writing some questions for each other to answer for homework. Today's homework is quite complicated so here are the instructions...

1. Log onto this site or use your phone or a recording device to record yourself answering five or six of the questions you received in class. If you weren't in class you can choose some questions yourself (e.g. What's your favourite sport / How many pairs of shoes do you have) and don't forget to talk about your answer a little (e.g. My favourite sport is tennis because I love running, I usually play it with my brother / I have twenty pairs of shoes - most of them are high heels but I have some trainers too!)

2. Listen back to your recording, are you happy with it? Listen for grammar / vocabulary / pronunciation errors. Make some notes.

3. Write a critical review of your recorded speaking homework. Try to answer these questions...

  • What are you most happy with?
  •  What are you most unhappy with?
  • Did you notice any grammar errors?
  • Did you notice any vocabulary errors?
  •  Did you notice any pronunciation errors?
  • How often do you stop or pause to search for a word?
  • How well do you express what you want to say?

4. Send the recording (and your written review if you want - or you can give it to me in class) to me at hannahsenglishclassroom@live.com by Friday.

After the break we studied prepositions. Prepositions are very difficult as it's all about remembering the different uses, and there are many! Here is the worksheet we studied. Make sure you review it as these will be on the test on Friday...
