Scary Tuesday!

Hi Class,

Today we started by reviewing reported speech by watching a video about a poltergeist and making reported speech sentences about what we heard. For example:

"The poltergeist was a bad man in the prison"
He said that the poltergeist had been a bad man in the prison

"The grave yard was a prison in the past"
He said that the grave yard had been a prison in the past"

"More than 180 people have reported unexplained pain in the area"
He said that more than 180 people had reported unexplained pain in the area.

"The priest is dead"
He said the priest was dead.

After this we talked about reporting speech that is happening right now. Remember: If the reporting verb is in the present tense (say, tell etc) then we don't change the tense of the sentence. For example:

"I am at the cafe now!"
He says (that) he is at the cafe now

"the queue is very long!"
She tells me (that) the queue is very long

OK, so after we had reviewed reported speech we started talking about communication verbs...

We put the verbs into sentences...

Your homework is to LEARN these verbs. They will be in the test on Friday!

Lastly we had conversations about 'the unexplained'. We spoke about psychics, reincarnation, deja vu and ouija boards.
You had some very different opinions and it was interesting to discover what you believe in and don't believe in.

Thanks for reading class and see you tomorrow!
