/d/, /t/ or /id/ - the 'ed'ernal question!

Good afternoon Pre-Inters!

Today we started off the lesson with the pronunciation rules for 'ed' endings. So many students make mistakes with this and there are some really easy rules to help you out. Here is a picture of the board and the brilliant examples you came up with.

Remember the best way to discover the pronunciation of an 'ed' word is to put your hand on your throat and feel for the vibration on the last sound before the 'ed'. If you feel it then you know it's a /d/ sound. If you don't then you know it's a /t/ sound. If the last letter before the 'ed' is t or d then the sound is /id/. Here is an online test you can use for practice.

It was very funny seeing all my students doing this...

After break we revised the present perfect vs past simple. We discovered which students have kissed an Irish person and who has had a drunken fight!!
I gave you this handout for homework.

Enjoy Dicey's tonight guys but don't drink too much! Hangovers in class are NOT fun!
